Fukuro Obi Clutch 2034

RM325.00 MYR

| /

Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

Colourful 'sensu' fans are spread across the purple silk obi.    Within the sensu one can find ‘kikkou’, 'kiku' and 'shippou' patterns.  Kikkou, the hexagonal pattern resembles the tortoiseshell and thus is associated with longevity.    The ‘Kiku’, chrysanthemum, is the Flower of the Imperial House and and often used icon of Japan itself and represents rejuvenation and longevity.  Shippou is a never ending pattern of interlocking circles meaning gemstones or treasures.

This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 30 years old, and in excellent condition.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.

Dimensions: 30.5cm x 18.5cm
